According to IFI Claims, only six other corporations were awarded more U.S. patents last year than Apple.
There was a nine percent drop in total awarded patents given to Apple in 2021 when compared to the previous year, according to IFI Claims Patent Services’s rankings of the top 50 U.S. patent assignees in 2021. According to the latest rankings, Apple rose one spot in 2021.
IBM, Samsung, Canon, TSMC, Huawei, and Intel have all been awarded more patents than Apple. Patents awarded by these top ten businesses ranged from 2,000 to 3,100. With 8,682 and 6,366 issued patents, IBM and Samsung overwhelmed the other three firms.
Apple nevertheless had more patents awarded than LG, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Samsung Display, Amazon, Sony, and Google, even though they were all direct rivals. In 2021, the US Patent and Trademark Office’s top 20 grantees of patents are as follows:

- Sony Corp: 1,683 patents granted

IFI Expectations for 2021 The top 250 patent holders in the world are shown by looking at the total number of patents owned by each company. Apple is ranked 37th on this list, with a total of 20,491 current patents. With a total of 90,416 active patents, Samsung is presently the patent leader in the world. In terms of worldwide active patents, Microsoft, LG, Sony, Intel, and Qualcomm all beat Apple.
