It was just a few days ago that Motorola introduced the Motorola Edge 30 Pro, an improved version of the Edge X30 that was launched in China in December and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 SoC. In addition, a blue sample has been sent to us for evaluation.
As with its predecessor, the Motorola Edge 20 Pro, the Edge 30 Pro retails in a similar packaging. It’s a little blue box with the phone’s name emblazoned on the top. The phone itself, together with some papers, a SIM ejector tool, a clear case, a charging cable, and a 68W adaptor, are all included within the box.
In this section, we’ll take a look at the features of the Motorola Edge 30 Pro. Two RAM and three storage choices are available for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1-powered smartphone. 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage are pre-installed on our device.
Fans of a minimalistic user interface may like the Edge 30 Pro’s use of MyUI 3.0, which runs on top of Android 12. Motorola’s normal software niceties are included, as well as a three-year guarantee of security updates. Motorola has also promised that the flagship would run Android versions 13 and 14.
Full HD+ 144Hz 10bit OLED display with HDR10 certification is the centrepiece of the Edge 30 Pro. Edge 20 Pro’s Gorilla Glass 5 was replaced with Gorilla Glass 3 on this model, which sports a 60MP selfie camera in the middle. The Edge 30 Pro, on the other hand, has gone from a metal frame to a plastic one.
The right side of this frame has the volume rocker and power button, with the latter also serving as a fingerprint reader. Our only complaint is the placement of these buttons, which is a little too high for comfort. Most notably, the buttons for adjusting the volume.
Gorilla Glass 5 protects this device’s back panel and its triple camera system, which includes 50-megapixel main (with OIS) and ultra-wide-angle (with OIS) sensors as well as 2-megapixel depth sensors, on the Edge 30 Pro. Motorola has removed the 8MP periscope telephoto lens from the Edge 20 Pro.
To provide a good grip, the panel’s edges are curved at the corners. We only had it for a short time when we noticed that the back of the phone was fast being covered with fingerprints. The plastic plate of the camera island is likewise shiny and has been smeared.
The Motorola Edge 30 Pro’s other features include 5G connection, NFC, dual speakers, Dolby Atmos compatibility, IP52 water-resistant construction, and a 4,800 mAh battery that pulls power via the USB-C connector at a maximum of 68W. The Edge 20 Pro’s 30W charging speed has been replaced with a much faster rate of 120W. A function that was absent from the Edge 20 Pro is now included: 15W wireless charging and 5W reverse wireless charging. – source
