With the Mercedes EQA EV, the brand’s smallest SUV gets a dose of electric power.
The Mercedes EQA small SUV is set to debut in 2022 and is the German automaker’s first electric vehicle. One of a growing number of electric vehicles being produced by Mercedes-Benz in Stuttgart.
It won’t be available in the United States for a while, but even if it does, it’ll have some great features for a low price. If you’re looking for Mercedes-Benz luxury and high-tech amenities but don’t want to pay the EQS price, this is an excellent option.
Mercedes-Benz EQA cost and release date in 2022
When it comes to the EQA’s accessibility, there are both good and bad news. The good news is that it started rolling onto European car dealer lots earlier last spring. Prices for the EQA start at £44,495 on the Mercedes-Benz UK website.
According to the current currency rate, it works out to around $62,026 in total. Our sister-site Techradar claims the edge EQA 350 AMG Line retails for £49,995 or nearly $70,000.
Unfortunately, the EQA is not yet available in the US. There is, however, a silver lining. According to Car and Driver, Mercedes is contemplating bringing the EQA over here in 2022.
According to the newspaper, the EQA’s MSRP is expected to be about $57,000. Consider federal and state tax benefits, which might significantly decrease the beginning price.
The design and interior of the Mercedes-EQ EQA in 2022
Like the GLA small SUV, the EQA is a plug-in electric crossover. Similar in size and shape to its internal combustion sister, it has subtle design differences that set it apart from the latter. The once-open area behind the one-bar grille and Mercedes star logo has been filled with a solid black panel.
Fiber optics link the daytime running lights to the strip above. The EQA’s LED headlights, which include blue accents within the housings, provide yet another signal that this is no ordinary Mercedes. Light bars extend from the taillights to the end of the liftgate, forming a continuous strip of illumination that connects the taillights.
EQA’s wheels will be unmistakable if those modifications don’t stand out enough. Up to a diameter of 20 inches, they come in two- and three-tone finishes. It’s possible to get a rose gold or blue accent in some designs.
The inside of the EQA conveys its message in a more subdued manner. Rose gold trim may be found on the key, temperature system vents, and seats, as well as blue and rose gold accents on the instrument and infotainment displays, depending on the EQA’s setup. Seats of the first-year Edition 1 model have holes punched in them, revealing blue fabric underneath.
Mercedes-EQ EQA driving assistance and safety features will be available in 2022.
MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) manages all aspects of the vehicle’s infotainment system. With Electric Intelligence Navigation, you may find the quickest way to a certain location while also accounting for traffic conditions, your driving style, and the number of stops needed to recharge the battery.
All EQA models come equipped with Active Lane Keeping Assist and Active Brake Assist. Driving Assistance Packages are available from Mercedes that include a range of warnings. When the door is opened, for example, the driver is alerted to the presence of a pedestrian or bike. The GLA’s Driver Assistance Package, which includes Evasive Steering Assist, Active Lane Change Assist, and Active Blind Spot Assist in addition to a lengthy list of other technologies, may be available with the EQA if it ever makes it to the United States.
Range and performance of the 2022 Mercedes-EQ EQA battery
To power the EQA 250, a 66.5-kWh battery pack and an electric motor are used. The EQA 250 produces 187 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque, which it sends to the front wheels. On a 400-volt DC fast charger, it should only take 30 minutes to get from 10% to 80% full.
According to Mercedes-Benz, the EQA 250 can go roughly 300 miles in New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) testing. If Mercedes chooses to sell the EQA in the United States, the EPA will provide a new, potentially lower, estimate.

The EQA is only getting started. As a result, we might expect Mercedes to expand its lineup, perhaps with an all-wheel-drive model that has 268 horsepower.
Although the EQA 250 is more powerful than its gas-powered sister, it is still not an AMG. It takes 8.9 seconds to reach 62 mph and 99 mph is the speed at which it meets an electrical wall.
Mercedes-EQ EQA forecast for 2022
Just like the standard Mercedes portfolio has done, the Mercedes-EQ family of automobiles will grow over time. The EQE car and EQE SUV will be released at some point in the future. The EQS is also available in an SUV body style. We’ll have to wait and see whether any form of EQA model is implemented in the United States.
