Latest: Marvel Removes Bridgerton Star From Secret Invasion Cast List

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is not being played by a Bridgerton actor who was mistakenly added to the Secret Invasion cast.

No Regé-Jean Page is part of Secret Invasion, Marvel has confirmed. As the first and maybe biggest entry in Marvel’s Phase 5 streaming slate, Secret Invasion is based on the same-titled comic book arc by Brian Michael Bendis and Leinil Francis Yu. With their shape-shifting abilities, Skrulls penetrate many aspects of Earth’s life and replace a number of significant personalities. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn’s Talos would be returning to Marvel’s Spider-Man: Far From Home as an on-again, off-again team.

Secret Invasion’s debut footage was shown during Marvel’s Comic-Con panel in San Diego after a series of high-profile casting announcements. The video reveals that the show begins with Nick Fury’s return to Earth and a meeting with S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill at the beginning of the season (Cobie Smulders). War Machine’s Don Cheadle will be warned of the looming threat soon. Even though their characters haven’t been revealed yet, the Secret Invasion trailer features new MCU actors Emilia Clarke, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Olivia Colman. Afterward, Marvel sent an email summarizing the Comic-Con panel, which hinted to Page’s involvement in the upcoming miniseries. As a result, the show’s studio has now provided an update on the cast.

Page will not feature in Secret Invasion, as Marvel Studios has announced in a new tweet. The show’s cast roster originally listed him incorrectly, but it has since been corrected. Marvel didn’t go into great detail about how this error occurred, so we don’t know exactly what went wrong.

Page’s placement in the Secret Invasion cast list was unintentional, but Marvel hasn’t explained why it happened. Marvel is notoriously tight-lipped about their cast rosters, so this appears to be a simple blunder on Marvel’s part. The studio’s decision to publish one with such a glaring blunder is unexpected. It was Page’s first time at SDCC, but his fame has skyrocketed since he wooed viewers as the Duke of Hastings on Netflix’s Bridgerton. On the other hand, even if he didn’t show up at Marvel’s presentation, Page is still in talks with the studio regarding another project.

Given that Marvel has made it clear that Page will not be appearing in Secret Invasion, it doesn’t appear that the studio is trying to hide anything about his casting. Killian Scott, Christopher McDonald, and Carmen Ejogo were all suspected cast members of Secret Invasion, however the show’s original and updated cast lists didn’t contain them. But this is probably because Marvel prioritized those with the greatest names, which inevitably include Jackson, Mendelsohn, and Clarke. Marvel As the premiere date of Secret Invasion approaches, the production company will be revealing additional details about the show, including the cast’s expanded size. With a spring 2023 release date in mind, Marvel has plenty of time to work on the project.
