Valve intends to increase output.
Many folks are still without Steam Decks, despite the fact that the first ones have just arrived in their mailboxes. Several members of the Tom’s Guide team have received the dreaded Q2 delivery estimate on their pre-orders as of this writing.
Valve, on the other hand, is reportedly working hard to increase Steam Deck output. IGN quotes designer Lawrence Yang as saying that the business intends to produce “the hundreds of thousands” of the portable gaming PCs by the end of next month.
There have been supply chain challenges with the Steam Deck’s development, much like practically anything else now on the market. If it hadn’t been for this delay, Valve wouldn’t have had to postpone the handheld’s release by two months.
Some consoles are already in the hands of their new owners, and Valve has shown that it was on schedule for a February launch date.
With the firm “overcoming” supply chain concerns, Yang said that Valve expects Steam Deck manufacturing to “scale up very fast” in the first month. Yang predicted that production will soon reach the tens of thousands. We’ll have hundreds of thousands within the second month, and it’ll increase even faster after that.”
Q2 delivery predictions will become “more precise and clearer” and Valve will be “updating those dates for those who are in that window,” according to Yang. It’s safe to assume that everybody who has already placed a pre-order may look forward to receiving delivery estimates that are little better defined.
According to Yang, though, Valve has been “pleasantly surprised” by the amount of Steam Deck reservations.
Steam Deck has received overwhelmingly good reviews so far, with many of these reviews concluding that the system delivers on its promises. With pricing beginning at only $399, it’s a lot less expensive than a full-blown gaming PC or laptop.
If you have a Steam account, you may still reserve a Steam Deck in some locations, including the United States. Handhelds won’t arrive until until Q2 2022, according to the most recent delivery predictions, which are exceedingly unclear.
