A developer preview of Android 13 was released less than a week ago, but it’s not yet accessible to the general public. As of late, it seems that a single developer has used it to virtualize Windows 11 on Android 13 (VM).

Android web and app developer Danny Lin (also known as kdrag0n on Twitter) shown Windows 11 Arm operating on the Google Pixel 6 in a virtual environment, according to Android Authority (via PCWorld). Using Android 13’s built-in hypervisor, Lin was able to run Windows 11 on top of it.

Lin also shared a video showcasing how Windows 11 operates on Android 13 in addition to screenshots.

Naturally, Doom runs on it as well.

According to Android Authority, Google has developed a new virtualization framework for Android 13 that aims to standardise Android’s virtual machine structure for the first time. Mishaal Rahman, editor of Esper and former editor-in-chief of XDA-Developers, says Google has worked hard to improve the virtualization infrastructure for Android smartphones.

In what ways does this help you out? This is just a fun technique for Android devs to play around with at the moment. As long as the public version of Android 13 doesn’t eliminate the ability to run a VM, the typical user can run Windows 11 on Android smartphones.

If this is the first time we’ve seen Windows run on Android, it should be noted. For Renegade Projected adapted Windows 10 Arm and Windows 11 Arm to Snapdragon 845 smartphones, according to Android Authority. There is a clear need for Windows to operate on Android.

A virtual machine running Windows 11 atop Android 13 on the recently introduced Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra would be fascinating to see if it becomes a key feature (or at least simple enough for consumers to activate). According to our hands-on assessment, Samsung’s newest tablet is almost as powerful as a laptop. Microsoft’s Windows 11 operating system would make the tablet essentially a full-fledged PC.

While a stable beta of Android 13 is scheduled to be released in April during the Google I/O developer conference, a final version is not expected until the autumn of 2018. We’ll keep you updated on Google’s next operating system as more information becomes available. Additionally, a preview of Windows 11 with native Android app compatibility is planned later this month (February 2022).
