Your iPhone’s Home Screen can now display multiple copies of a single app. Apple has made it possible to have several copies of an app on the Home Screen so that the applications may be used in combination with the new Focus capabilities. At first glance, this may look unusual and perhaps a problem.
Focus lets you disable Home Screen pages based on the Focus mode to which they’re currently assigned. There are many ways in which this can be done, such as setting up a separate “Focus” mode for work and a separate “Relax” mode for personal use. You can have multiple instances of the same app in this scenario if you want them to appear on both of your Home Screen pages.
If you have multiple icons for the same app on your iPhone, you don’t have to worry about consuming additional storage space. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get started.
- You may access the App Library on your iPhone by sliding left on the Home Screen.
- Long-press the icon of the app you wish to replicate until a green plus sign appears and a copy of the app appears on the last Home Screen, which will be in jiggle mode. The app icon may also be long-pressed and dragged to the Home Screen.
- Tap Done in the upper-right corner of the screen once you’ve moved the app to the selected Home Screen.
Repeat these instructions as many times as necessary to make multiple copies of the same app.
If you can’t locate the app you’re looking for in the App Library, hit the search box at the top or slide down to view all the applications on your iPhone arranged alphabetically. Rather than using the icon, long tap the app’s name and then drag it to the Home Screen.
If you change your mind about having multiple copies of an app, just touch and hold its icon on the Home Screen until the Remove App menu appears, and then hit Remove from Home Screen to confirm. This menu item will remove the app from your iPhone, along with any other icon copies it may have made in the past, so be careful what you wish for.
