Honor Pad X8 Lite appears on company website

For Chinese consumers, the Honor Pad 8 was unveiled in July. It entered the international market one and a half months later. Now, the independent company has what appears to be a Pad X8 Lite on its website that is more reasonably priced, but upon closer examination, we found that it is actually a rebranded Honor Tab 7 with a Helio P22T CPU and an outdated Android.

The device comes with a 9.7” LCD with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. On the inside, the Mediatek chipset has 32 GB storage to keep it company, which is extremely low and nowhere near the 128 GB options Honor offered to its home crowd. RAM is not mentioned and we can only hope it is 4 GB.

The camera on the back is 5 MP and has no LED flash whatsoever. The front-facing camera for video calls and work/study-at-home situations is 2 MP.

The user interface is Magic UI 6.1 based on Android 10 (yes, really). Since this tablet is all about productivity, it can open up to 4 apps on the screen simultaneously, and also offers e-book mode where it imitates e-ink readers. The Pad X8 Lite is TUV Rheinland certified for low blue light content

Other specs include two big speakers on the two short sides, a 5,100 mAh battery charged through a micro USB port, Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac. There’s no 3.5 mm audio jack.

On the international website, the Honor Pad X8 Lite is shown in Neo Mint hues but no information on availability or if it would come in an LTE version. We can only infer that this version will cost less than $200 based on the Tab 7’s pricing in China last year.
