Samsung modems are expected to be used in the latest generation of Tensor chips in the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro.
9to5Google’s Android 13 Developer Preview code dive suggests that the Pixel 7 may not be out for another eight or nine months.
The expected Google flagships for 2022 have been given their first “solid specifications” by Google.
The ‘GS201’ is the second-generation Tensor chip that will power the Pixel 7, according to the site. Cstark27, the site’s source, has done some more investigation into the Android 13 Developer Preview and discovered that the new chip seems to be tied to an upcoming Samsung modem with the model number ‘g5300b.’ If ‘g5123b,’ the Exynos Modem 5123, can be found in the Pixel 6, then the Exynos Modem 5300 should also be found in the upcoming Pixel 7.
Additionally, the new modem was discovered to be related to two smartphones, codenamed Cheetah and Panther, which 9to5Google speculates might either be a prototype or an actual production model of Google’s newest flagship smartphone, the Pixel 7. In other words, it seems that the GS201 Tensor chipset will be used in both forthcoming smartphones.
Although we can’t verify the truth of the information, it clearly seems like Google is hard at work on its successors for two of the greatest Android phones.
Is this the last Pixel of 2022?
Tensor chipset-powered Pixel 7 phones may be the first to be produced in 2022, but they’re not expected to be the first Pixel-branded smartphones to Google released at that time. Before the new flagships come in October, we’re expected to see at least one, and potentially three, more Pixel products.
Among them, the Pixel 6a is the most certain, with the same first-generation Tensor power but a less powerful camera and a less expensive design as the original Pixel. This was mentioned in an official Google colouring book and is expected to arrive in the spring, potentially around the time of Google I/O.
The Pixel Watch, Google’s first wearable, is expected to be released in May. Following Google’s $2.1 billion purchase of Fitbit, a circular face, a crown, and Fitbit software integration are expected in the watch.
It’s finally here: the Pixel Fold (or Pixel Notepad, depending on your point of view). Reports claim the foldable will cost less than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and be released in the fourth quarter of this year.
With these plus the two upcoming Pixel 7 devices, Google has a good chance of dominating our best smartphone and smartwatch rankings in 2022.
