Fitbit Versa 4 and Fitbit Sense 2 tipped to launch soon

The newest 9to5Google app deconstruction suggests that three more Fitbits are on the horizon. ‘ There are just codenames to go on for now, but we can already tell which models are receiving new iterations, and we know that Wear OS won’t be making an appearance this generation because of the hints in the resolutions.

In keeping with Fitbit’s practise of utilising sci-fi-themed codenames, the three wearables are referred to in the app as Hera, Rhea, and Nyota. For example, the Fitbit Versa 4 and Sense 2 are both described as having screen resolutions of 336 x 336, which clearly suggests that these two watches are the Fitbit Versa and Sense 2.

However, Nyota’s resolution is 124×208, which is similar to the design of the fitness band’s display. As the Fitbit Luxe 2’s resolution is the same as the Luxe from last year, the Luxe 2 is almost certainly in the works.

All three codenames were uncovered in Fitbit’s software bridge, which allows the company’s wearables to transmit data with smartphones, so it’s unclear how different they will be from prior versions.

When it comes to connecting to mobile devices, 9to5Google believes that Fitbit will not be embracing Wear OS this time around, despite the company’s $2.1 billion acquisition by Google.

What happened to Wear OS?

Although this leak does not disclose much about the gadgets, it does indicate that Fitbit’s ownership by Google has had minimal effect on the company’s operations so far.

However, the same resolution implies that this Fitbit will be incremental rather than sweeping in its generational changes, though additional sensors may always be added and we always appreciate battery improvements. ”

Even more surprising is Fitbit’s claim that they won’t be using Wear OS this time. Last year at Google I/O, Fitbit CEO James Park said that the business will be “creating premium smartwatches based on Wear that mix the best of Fitbit’s health expertise with Google’s ambient computing capabilities.”

In the few examples we’ve seen so far, none of these wearables fit the bill, and the rumour mill suggests that the future Pixel Watch will feature relatively limited Fitbit connectivity as well. As a result, the wait for a Fitbit-Google mashup is on.
