Apple expert Ming-Chi Kuo is out with another iPhone 14 forecast and this time it’s about the selfie camera. Autofocus front-facing cameras with an f/1.9 aperture will be found on all four new iPhones that will be released later this year. This would be a huge improvement over previous iPhones, which have remained with fixed-focus selfie cameras at f/2.2 apertures for a long time.
Photos, video calling and live-streaming applications will all benefit and the larger aperture will enable the sensors to collect more light which should produce in better daytime and low light images. Improved depth of field and better subject tracking will be possible thanks to the inclusion of autofocus, particularly in Portrait mode. We don’t have any information on the image sensor size and quality but the inclusion of AF will undoubtedly deliver a better selfie experience.
