Apple Will Offer Face ID Repairs Without Replacing the Entire iPhone

According to MacRumors, an internal document indicates that Apple Stores and Authorized Service Providers will soon have the ability to fix Face ID on iPhone XS and newer without needing to replace the whole device.

A new TrueDepth Camera service component encompassing both Face ID and front camera modules will soon be available to authorised technicians, enabling for same-unit repairs. Because of its dedication to reducing its devices’ carbon impact, Apple expects that the shift will result in fewer whole-unit repairs.

However, the iPhone X, which launched Face ID in 2017, seems to be exempt from the TrueDepth system’s new same-unit repair method. iPhone XS and later models will be able to take use of the new service component.

Repairing a Face ID issue on a single unit rather than replacing the whole phone or “iPhone Rear System” will become easier for Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers with the help of the Apple Service Toolkit diagnostic tool. Additional training and documentation will be made available at a later date, according to Apple’s statement.
