The Apple event teaser’s next presentation might hint to the company’s future plans for augmented reality.
Peek Performance, Apple’s next major event, will take place on March 8th. In addition to the iPhone SE 3, we’re anticipating new Apple components to be unveiled on September 12th, but something else is possible.
People are speculating about an AR-related surprise during the event after Apple SVP for Marketing Greg Joswiak tweeted out a teaser for the event. Some have speculated that the future Apple VR/AR headset may have anything to do with Apple’s use of augmented reality software.
The Peek Performance event logo seems to be floating in mid-air as seen in the video. Despite the fact that the logo seems to be only a 2D object from the previous position, as the camera pans to face it head-on, you can see that it has an interior. This is the type of optical illusion you’d anticipate from augmented reality products.
For a few years now, Apple has included a variety of AR capabilities in its iOS software. Apple regularly announces new iOS and iPadOS features at its annual WWDC keynote, which focuses on the company’s software roadmap for the next year.
Peek Performance is a non-WWDC event, which reduces the likelihood of entirely software disclosures. Apple’s VR/AR headset and a release date have also been the subject of several speculations. Even if the headgear doesn’t come until much later in the year, it’s not impossible that Apple has a huge unveiling planned for next week.
In the past, this has also been done. Even though the initial version of the Apple Watch was first shown in September 2014, with the iPhone 6, it didn’t go on sale until April 2015.
This announcement might have something to do with Apple Glasses, according to our pals at TechRadar. Although Apple isn’t known for announcing items too far in advance, the long-rumored VR/AR headgear is reported to be significantly further advanced in development than the AR specifications.
Apple Glasses are said to be a predecessor to the headgear, which is expected to include pass-through AR capabilities. The objective is to provide a tool for developers to practise constructing augmented reality applications, as well as a way for users to get familiar with the concept.
Apple might have “one more thing” in its sleeve when Peek Performance comes around, based on this little teaser. So, on March 8, we’ll have to see what happens. Source
