According to Xiaomi’s annual financial report, the company had a record-breaking year. This year, the Beijing-based company’s sales increased by 33.5 percent and its net profit by a stunning 69.5 percent compared to the previous year.
The smartphone market performed well, with 190.3 million units shipped worldwide, a 30% increase from 2020. 24 million of them fell into the premium category, an increase of 160% year over year.
CNY 208.9 billion was the total income generated by smartphone sales. Growth of 37.2% in the absolute quantity, but the average price of a Chinese Redmi Note 11 (CNY 1,097 per device) accounts for this. All phones costing more than CNY3,000 on the local market or more than €300 abroad are included in the premium shipments.
Xiaomi’s worldwide footprint continues to grow. Overseas markets accounted for CNY163.6 billion, a 33.7% rise in value from 2020, according to the financial report.
Among 62 countries across the globe, Xiaomi is in the top five smartphone producers, and in 14 of them, it is the best-selling brand.
Revenue from other smart devices grew by more than 26% annually to reach CNY 85 billion in 2021, the company’s latest financial statistics show. Air conditioners, refrigerators, and washing machines saw a 60 percent year-over-year increase.
In 2021, there were 509 million monthly active users of MIUI, an increase of 28.4 percent over 2020. This sector had a 42.3 percent increase in income to CNY18.1 billion from advertising in Xiaomi’s user interface.
