With Arsenal preparing to play Brentford on Sunday, one of the teams with the more surprising openings to the English Premier League season tries to rebound after dropping their opening match.
There is no question, Arsenal has grabbed the attention from those around the EPL thanks to their hot start to the season. Prior their disappointing 3-1 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend, the Gunners had been on a hot streak to begin their 2022-23 campaign, having won each of their first five matches. They are just a couple points off the pace of the two top clubs so far, as Arsenal is just two back of both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.
Despite losing to Fulham a couple weeks ago, Brentford has put themselves back on track and have been playing decent football as of late. Despite a pair of 1-1 draws against Everton and Crystal Palace in consecutive weeks, the Bees came back with a sizeable 5-2 victory over Leeds United. The five goals scored by Brentford is the most the squad has scored since returning to the Premiership last season. The Bees had previously scored four goals twice over the past two seasons, including putting up a four-spot against Manchester United earlier this season.
Sunday will mark just the 17th meeting between Arsenal and Brentford, with the two teams splitting the season series in 2021-22.
