WhatsApp may soon be able to communicate far bigger files.

If the recent reports are to be believed, WhatsApp is now testing an upgrade that would enable users to transmit and receive files of up to 2GB in size. For the time being, files transferred using the service’s applications can only be 100MB in size.

Whatsapp users will soon be able to communicate significantly bigger files than they now can, allowing for additional file transfer options. 100 MB may seem like a lot of space in 2022, but file sizes have increased dramatically in recent years.

While this may be true for certain users in Argentina, WABetaInfo adds that WhatsApp is presently experimenting with sending files up to 2GB in size.

In the past few days, WhatsApp has begun a little test, and some users have been able to transfer media files up to 2GB! There are just a restricted number of beta testers and it is only accessible in Argentina. WhatsApp hasn’t told us if this function will be made available to more users in the future, as it’s just being tested currently. Only time will tell whether WhatsApp will reverse the modifications and restore the prior restriction.

According to the initial storey, there is no assurance that this function will be accessible to everyone, but it does seem like it is only a matter of time until it is made available to the general public.
