Twitter Banks High on Videos with TikTok-like Video Viewer

Twitter has chosen to follow TikTok’s lead and display videos in full-screen mode, which may soon become the norm for watching videos. Videos will now play in full-screen mode in the Twitter feed. Here are some specifics.

Twitter wants to put an emphasis on “Immersive Viewing”

The new media viewer from Twitter will display videos in full-screen mode and is thought to offer an immersive experience. Clicking on a video will cause it to play in full-screen mode, but you can still like, comment, and share it. Additionally, there will be a retweet option.

Additionally, you can now use the Scroll Up gesture to continue watching more videos in the same format, enabling you to explore more content and making the video feed even more comparable to TikTok, Instagram Reels, and even YouTube Shorts.

By tapping the back arrow, you can choose to leave full-screen mode and return to the original feed. Users of iOS will initially be able to access this new change, and Android users are reportedly next.

While this new change is a way for Twitter to keep up with the times and provide users with what they want, some of them may not like it. If you’re unaware, Instagram started experimenting with a full-screen mode for the entire feed, but it had to be rolled back after some criticism. It will be interesting to see how users react to this new Twitter change.

In addition, Twitter has added a new video carousel to the Explore section so that you can quickly discover more, trending videos in addition to tweets and trends. Both Android and iOS users can access this feature in a few specific nations.
