In the autumn, the Google Pixel Watch might be unveiled during Google I/O.
Over the course of the last year, we’ve been anticipating the arrival of the Google Pixel Watch. It now seems like we’ll have to wait another six months or so.
After a recent tweet from Jon ProSser, it seems that Google is planning to tease its new wristwatch at its Google I/O event in May, but that it would not launch until October. Our initial guess is that supply chain troubles, which have plagued a number of digital businesses throughout the world, are to blame, but the exact cause is unknown.
Even though the Google Pixel 6a is expected to go on sale in July “in most areas,” Prosser believes that the Pixel Watch will be teased at the same time as the Google Pixel 6a’s unveiling.
Rumors are circulating that the Google Pixel 6a will be available in more countries than the Pixel 5a, which is exclusively available in the US and Japan. Even though Prosser’s assertion might be seen as a phased rollout of the phone, meaning that some of us will have to wait even longer, this is fantastic news for those looking for a cheap phone.
Instead, it seems like the Pixel Watch will be released in October with the predicted Google Pixel 7. Given that this is Google’s primary product launch window, and given that the company has never sold a wristwatch before, it seems plausible that the company would prefer have Android 13 serve as the main attraction at Google I/O rather than having a side attraction for it.
Rumors about the Pixel Watch’s arrival have been circulating for some time now. Although we had hoped the watch would be released in October, we haven’t received any formal confirmation of its existence.
As with the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, the Pixel Watch is almost certainly going to operate on Google’s Wear OS. In our evaluation, we gave it high marks for usability. As a result, we believe Google’s Pixel Watch has a decent chance of making our list of the best smartwatches, albeit it will have to beat off the current Apple Watch 7 to claim the top place.
