Pachinko on Apple TV Plus: All the essentials
Pachinko, based on Min Jin Lee’s best-selling novel of the same name, tells the tale of four generations of a Korean family living in three different countries: Korea, Japan, and the United States. The storey of forbidden love and loss, battle and peace, victory and reckoning is told in three separate languages – Korean, Japanese, and English.
As the main heroine, Suja, becomes pregnant and must flee Korea, we follow her storey. What impact will this have on her and her family members in the future? While Yuna portrays the young Suja and Academy Award winner Yuh-Jung Youn plays the elder Suja, Minha Kim, who plays Teenage Suja, has the potential to be the series’ breakthrough star. Soji Arai portrays Mozasu, Jin Ha portrays Solomon, and Lee Minho portrays Hansu in the cast.
Soo Hugh, well known for her work on The Terror and The Killing, penned the script. While it’s been a long time since Apple purchased the rights to produce this programme in 2018, the wait is worth it.
