The OnePlus Watch 2: Everything We Know So Far
The OnePlus Watch 2 is expected to be released soon. Rumors of a new wearable device accompanying the OnePlus 10 Pro are heating up as the company prepares for its worldwide debut.
One of the most well-known brands in the world, OnePlus is known for teasing new products before they are officially announced. A few months before its official unveiling, OnePlus had promised that one of the greatest smartwatches for OnePlus users will be available. Although the final product fell short of our expectations, it ultimately provided an optimum wristwatch experience for those using any of the finest OnePlus phones.
The OnePlus Watch 2 is said to be in development in Europe and Asia, according to reports. When it comes to smartwatches, Samsung and Apple have already established an annual upgrade cycle that is similar to the one that is used by OnePlus for its second-generation Android wristwatch, which is expected to arrive in summer 2022.
Because of this, we don’t expect to see OnePlus Watch 2 with the OnePlus 10 Pro, although it’s possible. You can read up on all we know about the OnePlus Watch 2 so far, including a likely pricing and release date.
Pricing and release date of the OnePlus Watch 2.
If the OnePlus 10 Pro launch event is any indication, we may expect an announcement or teaser for the OnePlus Watch 2. On Thursday at 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT, the event will take place. The OnePlus 10 Pro launch event will be streamed live on the OnePlus website.
The OnePlus Watch 2 is more likely to arrive in the second half of the year, rather than the first. It’s worth noting that OnePlus hasn’t mentioned a new wristwatch since the release of the original OnePlus Watch in May of last year, only months after the OnePlus 9 Pro was announced. Prior to a product’s formal release, the firm is notorious for teasing (and in some instances, entirely exposing) upcoming items.
In terms of pricing, we expect OnePlus will go for a low-cost smartwatch that’s in the $150-$200 range. We wouldn’t be shocked if the pricing of the second OnePlus Watch was the same as the first.
What we hope to see from the OnePlus Watch 2
If the OnePlus Watch 2 is really on the way, we may expect more speculations regarding its specifications and features in the near future. However, we’ve already come up with a list of features we’d want to see in the OnePlus Watch 2 and what we believe will make it a better alternative to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and the rest of the top Android smartwatches.
In the first OnePlus Watch, RTOS (proprietary operating system) was used, which was replaced by Wear OS. The original OnePlus Watch did its job well, but we believe the second model would be substantially better if it used the updated Wear OS. There are a number of Wear OS-compatible smartwatches out there, and they’re becoming better and better. Wear OS is now the Android wristwatch software of choice. If Google services, an adequate app store, and better fitness features are added to the OnePlus Watch 2, it has the potential to succeed.
Great battery life: The initial OnePlus Watch had a battery life of nine days, which was better than the best performance of the Apple Watch and Samsung Watch batteries we’ve seen so far. OnePlus has a good track record when it comes to quick changes. We want the OnePlus Watch 2 to have a long-lasting battery life and to charge rapidly when it is needed.
Fitness monitoring is vital to a decent smartwatch, and better sensors are needed to do so. Because of its inconsistent sensor readings and rudimentary stats, the OnePlus Watch from the previous year was not ranked one of the top fitness trackers. Since many smartwatch users desire a watch that precisely records their activity, improved sensors would be a big help.
