Here’s all we know so far about Google I/O 2022, so mark your calendars today.
The dates for Google I/O 2022 have been set. Taking place on May 11 and 12, the annual developer conference will be primarily online for the second year in a row, while there will be a small live audience for the main event.
Android 13 is expected to be unveiled during Google I/O, which is generally where we hear about the newest version of Android. Android 13 will be on full show at I/O with a thorough overview of the new features, even though the first beta has been released.
Google I/O 2022: The Pixel 6a, Pixel Watch, and Android 13
As for the speculated Google Pixel 6a, it’s anyone’s guess. The Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro were recently announced as a low-cost alternative to the company’s flagships, but the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro’s delivery schedule for 2019 is still up in the air.
Although we may not see a new smartphone for some time, Google may be seeking to introduce the A Series sooner this year if I/O is any hint. Sundar Pichai, Google’s CEO, hinted at the possibility that we would learn anything about Pixel at this year’s I/O. The Pixel 6a, on the other hand, was only approved by the FCC a short time ago, suggesting that its release is near. If this is the case, then Google I/O is perfectly timed.
Wear OS is also expected to make some announcements, since it promised last year to completely overhaul the finest Android smartwatches. As of right moment, only the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is powered by Wear OS 5.0, but Fossil is planning to release a new model soon. Full availability might be announced during Google I/O 2022. What are the chances? The recent flurry of Pixel Watch rumours, including as the device’s battery capacity, makes me hopeful for a teaser.
When it comes to Android 13, Google released the Android 13 beta in April ahead of the company’s own developer conference. Even if we’ve previously discovered some of the highlights, such as a speedier QR code scanner and the return of device controls to the lock screen, we’d still anticipate a full review of Android 13 improvements. At I/O, we may expect to learn more about Android 13 and its features.
I/O 2022: Google’s Chrome OS
Chrome OS is also likely to undergo some significant changes in the near future. Some of the greatest laptops for students or those who merely use Google services may become even better with the addition of new Chromebook software capabilities. At the very least, there should be some new Chrome OS-enhancing features in Android 13. However, we’ll have to wait and see..
