Santa Monica Studio’s Santa Monica has stated that God of War Ragnarok is still on pace for a 2022 release for PS5 and PS4.
God of War Ragnarok is about a fourth of the way into 2022, but PlayStation and developer Santa Monica Studio have yet to provide any fresh information. Despite the fact that Ragnarok was initially expected to debut in 2022, some fans are now worried that it would instead premiere in 2023 due to the relative hush around it. At least that’s not the case, according to a recent update from one of the project creators.
Santa Monica Studio’s community and social team member said that God of War Ragnarok is still on track to be released at some point this year. According to “Blue Owlz,” a social media developer, Ragnarok will still be released in 2022, despite recent rumours. The release date of the next God of War game was not mentioned in this tweet, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t already fixed in stone.
There hasn’t been much new information about God of War Ragnarok since it was shown at the PlayStation Showcase 2021 in September. This has raised fears that the game may be delayed even further, perhaps until 2023. However, it looks that these fears were unfounded.
Santa Monica Studio’s “Blue Owlz: Medic,” a member of the community and social team, recently tweeted, “God of War Ragnarok coming out this year.” This reassurance that the game would debut within the next nine months has been favourably greeted by the PlayStation community, even if it is not technically new information.
This isn’t the first sign that God of War Ragnarok’s development is going as planned. Bloomberg writer Jason Schreier made the announcement on Reddit last month, saying that the game is unlikely to be delayed until 2017. Schreier had just one thing to say in response to a rumour that the game will be postponed until 2023.
A well-connected industry insider, Schreier has a history of breaking scoops even when she wasn’t personally engaged in the game’s creation. There is a significant likelihood that he would be informed of a delay in the game before it was made public.
The fact that God of War Ragnarok has already been postponed once, to 2023, would be particularly galling. The game was originally scheduled for release in 2021, however owing to the coronavirus epidemic, it was pushed back to 2022 last year.
It’s unclear when Kratos and Atreus will resume their voyage in the following nine months, but the game is on track to debut within its amended launch timeframe. However, according to a key industry source, PlayStation might be prepared for as many as three significant announcements this week, including God of War Ragnarok’s release date.
