“Friday Night Lights” creator Jason Katims and actor Connie Britton are developing a ten-part series based on Ann Napolitano’s novel “Dear Edward” for Apple TV+.
Napolitano will serve as co-executive producer alongside Jason Katims, who is developing the script. “Dear Edward” is the narrative of Edward Alder, “a 12-year-old kid who escapes a terrible commercial jet disaster that kills every other passenger… including his family,” according to Apple.
Alder is played by Colin O’Brien, with Connie Britton and Taylor Schilling also appearing. Fisher Stevens, who is presently starring in “Succession” and previously directed the Apple TV+ film “Palmer,” will helm the first episode.
True Jack Productions’ first series order since signing an overall development contract with Apple in 2019 is “Dear Edward.” The terms of that agreement are unknown, but it is non-exclusive because Katims created “Away” for Netflix and is presently working on “As We See It” for Amazon.
“Dear Edward” has yet to get a production or streaming date from Apple.
