With TPG Capital and Bain Capital, and Goldman Sachs Capital Partners bringing the corporation public in 2002, the company was sold four times over the following 50 years. In a transaction estimated at $3.26 billion, Brazilian investment firm 3G Capital purchased the company’s controlling ownership towards the end of 2010. In the immediate aftermath of the takeover, the corporation was restructured in an effort to reverse its fortunes. As a result of the 3G-Berkshire Hathaway partnership and as part of a new Canadian parent company titled Restaurant Brands International, the Canadian doughnut brand Tim Hortons was ultimately amalgamated with 3G.
