There was an 85.5 percent increase in the number of iPhones produced by Apple in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the same period last year, according to a report.

Since its release, the iPhone 13 line has witnessed strong demand, prompting Apple to ramp up production. As of Monday, iPhone manufacturing seems to have risen significantly.

According to TrendForce, Apple maintained its position as the world’s most popular smartphone brand in the fourth quarter of 2021. A record 85.5 million iPhones were produced in the fourth quarter of 2021, an increase of 66% over the previous quarter.

As a result of “fair” pricing strategies for customers and lower costs influencing older model sales, there was a rise in demand.

According to TrendForce’s estimates, Apple has taken over Huawei’s market share, which it feels might be “considered the key cause for Apple’s exceptional success” in the quarter. Purchases for Huawei’s top-of-the-line handsets were reportedly progressively supplanted by orders for iPhones.

Apple was able to enhance its iPhone output to 233 million devices in 2021, up from 200 million in 2020, as a result of the production increases. According to TrendForce, Apple’s market share in China has grown from 10 percent to 16 percent over the last year.

In all, the sector produced 356 million smartphones in Q4 2021, an increase of 9.5% from Q3 and Q4 of the year. While iPhone manufacturing continued, component shortages affecting other suppliers reduced output elsewhere, resulting in a lower Q4 2021 number than in Q4s 2020 and 2019, respectively.

Though China’s demand for smartphones is expected to fall, it is expected that smartphone manufacturing will reach 1.381 billion units per year in 2022. Source
