The tablet appears to have passed the engineering validation test stage at Google.
During Google I/O in May 2022, Google offered us our first look at the forthcoming Pixel Tablet. However, the corporation remained mum regarding specifics outside from few generated marketing films. This has changed as a result of the most recent leak, and we now know that the tablet will likely have a 10.95-inch screen and up to 256GB of storage.
As the leak from developer-turned-leaker Kuba Wojciechowski and 91mobiles details, these tidbits came to light as part of Google’s engineering validation test phase (EVT). This is the internal step that follows the prototyping stage, meaning that the hardware design is final at this point. Google is now in the process of ensuring that everything works and functions as expected.
The leak further reveals that the Pixel Tablet comes in two variants, one with 128GB and another with 256GB. The tablet is also supposed to support Wi-Fi 6, which is the least we would expect from a device slated to launch in 2023. Wojciechowski has further spotted a first-party stylus for the Pixel Tablet, based on USI 2.0 technology, though there aren’t any images to come with the leak.
Some devices seemed to have been transported to India during the EVT period, suggesting that Google is at least considering releasing the gadget there. Given that Google introduced the Pixel 6a there and will likely also bringing the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro to market, it would fit perfectly in with the company’s newfound focus in the nation with the biggest population in the world.
We don’t currently have a lot of information regarding the Pixel Tablet beyond these specs. The gadget will be powered by a Tensor chip, which Google initially launched for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, as Google has already confirmed. The tablet will probably include a dock because the company’s official press materials indicate that it has magnetic connections on the rear; this is further supported by a leaked docked interface. According to a different source, Google has been preparing to exclusively run 64-bit apps on the Pixel Tablet, making it one of the first devices to do so.
Google still has a ways to go as the introduction of the Pixel Tablet is still expected in 2023. Before the gadget is formally released, there will probably be a lot more information revealed. Google hasn’t always been great at keeping the identity of its next products a secret.
