Upgrading to Windows 11 hasn’t been easy, from the misunderstanding about compatibility with older Windows 10 PCs to difficulties with Wi-Fi, sound, and widgets that persist long after you’ve completed the process. The flickering screen issue in Windows 11 is one such bug that has recently surfaced.
A display driver issue or an unsuitable app are the most common causes of screen flickering in Windows 11. Check to see if Task Manager flickers to discover whether a display driver or programme is causing the issue. After that, you’ll need to update, rollback, or remove your display driver, as well as update or uninstall the app, based on the information you’ve gathered.

How to fix screen flickering in Windows 11
- Open the Settings App.
- Click on Personalization on the right pane.
- Select the Background option.
- Now you can do one of 2 things. You may choose to set the desktop background to a solid color, or select an image as your wallpaper. The idea is to avoid using the Slideshow option.
- Go back to the previous screen, i.e. Personalization, and click on Colors. Check whether the Accent Color is set to “Manual”. If it says automatic, switch it to manual.
The idea is to stop the OS from refreshing the colours and backdrop automatically (slideshow), which seems to be causing the screen flickering issue.
Alternative Solution to fix screen flashing in Windows 11
If the preceding strategy did not work for you, here is another option to consider. In the Settings app, go to the sidebar and choose Accessibility. Toggle the Animation Effects button in the right pane by clicking Visual effects. Here’s where I got the solution.
When you changed the theme in the Insider Preview version of Windows 11, the screen would flash. I believe it was caused by the animation effect.
How to fix screen flickering in Chrome on Windows 11
As previously stated, screen flickering in Chrome is a Windows problem. When I originally installed Windows 11 in a virtual system, I ran into a different issue. In the OS, Firefox and Microsoft Edge functioned great, but Vivaldi (as well as Chrome and Brave) had issues. Chromium browsers display a white window asking you to confirm the action when you quit the browser with numerous tabs open. When you install extensions, a similar message occurs.
