A fresh perspective
For Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, fresh information has emerged, including a brand-new third-person mode.
The first Call of Duty games were first-person shooters. When I initially experimented with the franchise all those years ago, that was part of what made it challenging to get the feel of it. However, Modern Warfare 2’s new third-person option could be the perfect way to engage a buddy who struggles with first-person perspective.
The updated information is provided by Call of Duty: Next, a specialised display that covers the series’ future, including Warzone 2 and the next Call of Duty mobile game. Check out the trailer, which conveniently begins in third person, below.
Change in view
There’s only a brief second or two showing off the new Call of Duty third-person mode. But it looks like it’s only in third-person while you’re running amok on the map.
As soon as you aim, it switched to first-person. The feature has been a labor of love, and has been in the works for a while. Infinity Ward’s co-design director (and former multiplayer designer), Joseph Cicot, says “it’s a modifier on our game”.
The third-person mode for Call of Duty is also coming to VR, which may interest users of the PSVR 2. Additionally, he refers to “water cameras” and “vehicle cameras,” which are probably variations for the various situations.
Since Cicot predicts the mode to release this year, Modern Warfare 2 will undoubtedly include it when it launches. Call of Duty gamers may currently get ready for the Modern Warfare 2 beta, which begins tomorrow for PlayStation users.
