It only takes a few applications these days to clog up the notification shade on your Android phone. To give you an idea, an average American receives 45 alerts every day on his smartphone. Yes, it’s quite a bit. And, believe it or not, these alerts are wreaking havoc on your productivity in some manner.
With all of this in mind, turning off notifications for these alert-happy applications becomes critical. We’ll teach you how to disable alerts on Android in a couple of different methods. So, without further ado, let us get started.
1. ENABLE DO NOT DISTURB MODE
The best approach to turn off all alerts on Android is to use Do Not Disturb mode. It won’t allow your phone ring or vibrate for any calls or notifications if you enable it. You may also personalise and schedule the Do Not Disturb mode according to your preferences.
Read on to learn how to use Do Not Disturb Mode on Android.
Step 1: Launch the Settings app on your phone and navigate to Sound.
Step 2: In there, go to the Do Not Disturb option and tap on the Turn on now button to enable it.
The Do Not Disturb symbol will appear at the top once you’ve activated it. From here, you may further configure the Do Not Disturb mode.
You may, for example, set a few exceptions for contacts, applications, and alarms that can still send you alerts or calls even if Do Not Disturb is turned on. You’ll never miss an essential call or alert from your favourite people or applications if you do it this way.
Additionally, you can also configure the DND mode to be activated automatically on schedule.

Step 1: Open up the Settings app on your Android and navigate to Apps and notifications.
Step 2: Locate the app from the list for which you wish to disable notifications.
Step 3: On the app info page, go to Notifications. Now toggle off the switch next to ‘All [AppName] notifications’.
You can repeat the steps above to configure notification preferences for other apps as well.
Alternative Method
Another approach to turn off notifications for a specific app is to do so from the notification shade, assuming you already have a notice from that app.
When the app sends you a notice, hold it in your hand and hit the Turn Off Notifications button in the bottom left corner.
Then, next to ‘All [AppName] notifications,’ turn Off the option and hit Done.
3. SNOOZE NOTIFICATIONS
If you don’t wish to dismiss a notification right away, you can also snooze it for later. Here’s how to enable and use notification snoozing on Android.
Step 1: Open the Settings app and navigate to Apps and notifications.
Step 2: Now go to Notifications and expand the Advanced settings to toggle on the switch next to Allow notification snoozing.
Once enabled, swipe left on the notification and tap on the snooze icon. You can snooze a notification for 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, or 2 hours.
4. HIDE NOTIFICATIONS ON LOCK SCREEN
If you only wish to hide notifications on the lock screen to ensure no sensitive content appears on it, you can also turn off notifications for the Lock Screen on Android by following the steps below.
Step 1: Open the Settings app and navigate to Apps and notifications.
