Comic-Con attendees got a first look at new footage from “Black Adam” and “Shazam! Fury of the Gods,” and stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Zachary Levi had a few surprises up their sleeves for the superhero fans there.

He led half of the panel before Johnson seemed to float in his Black Adam costume surrounded by smoke and lightning in his Shazam costume.

See what we’ve learned so far about the next movies, and stay tuned for more! (CNN and Warner Bros. Discovery are both part of DC Films’ parent business.)

Introducing Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu in the new ‘Shazam’ video.

“Shazam!” star Zachary Levi appears to be down in the dumps in the latest trailer. The most well-known DC heroes, such as Batman and Superman, are compared to him, and he admits that they’ve had decades of renown and butt-kicking to their names.

I don’t deserve these abilities, he thinks to himself. “What exactly am I doing here?”
An “Shazam!” primer can be found here.) Shazam, played by Levi, transforms from a teenage kid named Billy into an adult superhero capable of summoning the might of many gods simply by saying his name. In retrospect, his moaning here seems understandable.)

‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods,’ starring Zachary Levi (center), is a fun entry in the DC Films universe.

“Shazam! Fury of the Gods” stars Zachary Levi as the titular superhero, one of the more humorous DC Films offerings.

Adding some comic relief are “Daughters of Atlas,” played by Lucy Liu and Helen Mirren, who appear to desire to regain control of the “power of all the gods” that Shazam and his teenage pals “stole” to become adult superheroes.

A sight of Rachel Zegler, who played Maria in Steven Spielberg’s remake of “West Side Story,” appears to play an important role in the burgeoning franchise, but we have no idea how Shazam and the group will overcome these evil women.

‘Black Adam’ broods

“My talents are not a gift but a curse,” Johnson’s Black Adam mumbles in the new “Black Adam” footage that Johnson dramatically presented.

Even more gloomy scenes come later in the trailer after Pierce Brosnan, Noah Centineo, and an eagle-eyed Aldis Hodge appear “A hero was desperately needed. Rather, I was the victim.”

Adam, stop brooding; Batman can handle it. Black Adam’s narrative details are unknown, although we know from comics that he is an antihero or villain, depending on whom you ask. He can also tap into Shazam’s powers. The lightning bolt on the uniforms of both men is the identical, but Adam’s is marred by mud, filth, and his own inner agony.
After “Black Adam,” which comes out on October 21, “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” opens in theaters exactly two months later.
