This is as near to a national holiday as any name day can get: Tom Brady’s birth day isn’t an NFL holiday, but it’s as close as any name day can get.

Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr., who was born on August 3, 1977, in San Mateo, California, continues to shatter NFL records, particularly those pertaining to his age. Father Time snarls in mockery of Brady’s unblemished record with each snap.


If Bucs quarterback Matt Brady throws his first pass in Week 1, he’ll join Hall of Famer George Blanda as the only players in NFL history with a passing yard at or older than 45. Brady would also become the first player in NFL history to gain a rushing yard or a receiving yard after turning 45 if he managed one of those two feats.

He became one of only three players to score 45 or more points in two consecutive seasons (Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers). In the history of NFL players, only Tom Brady, who is 40 or older, has had a season like this.

Brady has the most seasons with 45 or more passing touchdowns in NFL history if playoff stats are included (Brady’s seasons: 2007, 2011, 2020, 2021). Rodgers, Manning, and Patrick Mahomes are the only three players who have had more than one season in which they threw for more than 20 touchdowns.


Including playoffs, Brady has had 13 seasons in which he has thrown for more than 4,500 yards. This is the most ever in NFL history. Aside from Drew Brees (12), no one else has ever played for 10 or more years in the NFL.
