iPhone 14 Pro bad news — Apple recently stated that delays could worsen drastically

Must Read

Apple has issued a warning that iPhone 14 Pro delays may soon worsen.

Due to issues with Apple’s Chinese manufacturing partner, obtaining an iPhone 14 Pro may become much more difficult in the coming weeks.

According to a new Apple statement, the Foxconn production factory in Zhengzhou, which manufactures the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, is currently “working at considerably reduced capacity” owing to a Covid-19 lockdown in the city that began on November 2. According to one estimate (via Reuters), the decline might be as much as 30%.

As a result, Apple predicts “smaller iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max shipments than we previously anticipated, and consumers will have lengthier wait times for their new products.”

High demand for the new Pro iPhones has already resulted in a month or more delay between purchasing a phone and receiving it, and the drop in output will not help. This is especially bad timing for purchasers as the Christmas season approaches, as many users will have been waiting for Black Friday discounts to get money off or extra bonuses with their iPhone purchase. It now appears improbable that any iPhone 14 Pros purchased on Black Friday would arrive before the end of the year.

A major Covid lockdown causes chaos.

Due to the lockdown, Foxconn plant workers have been confined to their cells within the complex, with reports of huge numbers of workers wanting to leave despite the constraints due to alleged poor care and poor working conditions.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reacted on the implications of the lockdown, stating that Foxconn may accelerate the construction of its new manufacturing facilities in India to prevent further delays caused by rigorous Chinese Covid lockdowns. This may alleviate shortages, but it is unlikely to be a rapid remedy. According to Kuo, the Indian factory now generates only 2 – 4% of Apple’s entire iPhone production.

The Zhengzhou lockdown will endure at least until November 9, with the possibility that the Chinese government would extend the restrictions if the risk of Covid transmission remains too high. As a result, the iPhone 14 Pro delay could be even longer than it is now, or it could have a longer-lasting influence on stock levels.

Fortunately, the iPhone 14 normal and iPhone 14 Plus appear to be unaffected by the lockdown, which is good news for consumers on a tighter budget or who aren’t interested in the Pro’s additional capabilities. These models do not represent a significant advancement over the Pro versions, but having a new larger size option in the Plus model is still desirable. Furthermore, these phones continue to include some new functions.
