According to a leaked report, the basic iPhone 14 will use the same processor and hence will not have ProMotion support.

iPhone 14 rumours and leaks to date

iPhone 14 rumours indicate that Apple aims to streamline the distinction between Pro and non-Pro models. There is a rumour that both models will be available in ordinary and max sizes, making the difference between the two only based on performance.

The iPhone small may be on its way out, and its place may be taken by the iPhone 14 Max. In this case, the iPhone 14 line-up may look like this:

  • iPhone 14: 6.06 inches OLED, A15 Bionic, 6GB RAM
  • iPhone 14 Max: 6.68 inches OLED, A15 Bionic, 6GB RAM
  • iPhone 14 Pro: 6.06 inches OLED LTPO, A16 Bionic, 6GB RAM
  • iPhone 14 Pro Max: 6.68 OLED LTPO, A16 Bionic, 6GB RAM

The first thing you notice is that the sizes are all the same. Regardless of whether or not they opt for the Pro update, Shadow Leak predicts that customers will be able to choose between the 6.06-inch and 6.68-inch screen sizes. For comparison’s sake, the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max have the same proportions. As of now, just the 5.42-inch iPhone 13 mini will be offered.

Performance differences should be more apparent than ever. Apple’s ProMotion 120Hz adaptive display technology will be restricted to the Pro models, but it seems that the standard models will remain on the A15 chipset for a second generation. This would leave the new A16 SoC as an inducement for going Pro.

It’s worth noting that Shadow Leak isn’t the first to make this prediction; Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said so earlier this month as well.

Customers will be disappointed even though the A15 chipset is blazing fast, handily surpassing Qualcomm’s top Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 engine in benchmarks. If the iPhone 14 doesn’t provide a performance gain over the previous generation, why not save a few dollars and get the iPhone 13 Pro? It might possibly be the upcoming iPhone SE 3, which has an A15 processor.

A lack of a response to that question would be remarkable from Apple. There may be a 90 Hz refresh rate on the screen if Shadow Leak’s earlier forecasts are correct. We can only hope that other features, like as the camera or battery capacity, will improve as well.

If Apple adheres to its September release schedule, the iPhone 14 is still a long way off. For the time being, this is all just a rumour. However, if this is the case, it seems that Apple is willing to degrade its main product in order to persuade more consumers that the additional expense is worth it.
