The iOS 15.4 update, which includes new emojis, the option to use Face ID with a mask, and a slew of bug fixes, is now available for anyone with compatible iPhones. This new software version may also have a drawback: battery consumption.

Twitter has seen a spike in reports of battery depletion, according to many users. After installing the iOS 15 update, many users had the same problems.
Since the iOS 15.4 update was implemented, a subset of users on Twitter and Reddit have claimed that their devices have been draining their battery far more fast.
“iOS 15.4 is causing my iPhone 13 Pro Max to run out of power.” After a day or two of not charging, my battery is only half-full,” tweeted Oded Shopen.
In one Reddit post, users claim varying degrees of improvement or degradation in battery life, while another cites “horrendous power depletion” over the last several days. On another Reddit discussion, a user complains that the battery drains faster than normal.
This isn’t true for everyone
Similar complaints have been made on Twitter, where one user complained of “absolutely absurd” energy depletion, while another said it was “very awful,” and still another that iOS 15.4 was “killing the battery” of an iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Though a few of postings have mentioned the new iPhone 13, others have referenced previous iterations of Apple’s flagship smartphone. There is currently no discernible pattern in which iPhone models are impacted.
Other Reddit threads and Twitter postings have reported improved battery life after the iOS 15.4 fix was released. This is not a universal issue. So far, the reactions to the most recent iOS upgrade have been a bit of a mixed bag.
Don’t freak out just yet, says the analysis
Death, taxes, and claims of high battery drain after an iOS upgrade are all certainties in life. Even if there had not been concerns about iOS 15.4 and battery life in the first few days, we would have been more astonished.
There have been no more official responses from Apple other than telling people that it is typical for battery life to fluctuate for up to 48 hours after installing a new operating system update. Most of the time, things will calm down after this.
Third-party developers also need time to make sure their applications function with rather than against the newest iOS, as an iOS update needs time to analyse what it’s working with on a specific iPhone and how to optimise the battery appropriately.
As a result, we anticipate most of these problems to be resolved over the next several days. In the following week, keep a careful check on your battery consumption to see whether you’re impacted by the problem.
