An iOS-only Google search feature that has been available to iOS users since last summer will soon be available to Android users as well. Search history may be deleted in 15 minutes with a simple swipe.
XDA editor-in-chief Mishaal Rahma was the first to notice this new function, which was later verified by Google in a statement to The Verge. Google is reportedly making the capability accessible to Android users and hopes that everyone will have access to it within the next several weeks.
To erase the previous 15 minutes of your Google search history, wouldn’t it be wonderful to merely click a button?
Since last summer, iPhone users have been living that dream thanks to Google’s iOS app. The thrill of removing your most recent search history with an one press is now available to Android users as well.
According to The Verge and verified by Google, the search engine is now rolling out the option to delete the past 15 minutes of a user’s search history from its official Android app. There are already reports from Android users that the functionality is currently accessible.
On Android, open the Google app and touch on your profile picture in the upper right corner of the screen. In between “Search History” and “Recent,” you’ll notice an option to Delete the previous 15 minutes. Within 15 minutes of that touch, Google will remove all of your search history from your account.
To clear your Android’s search history, use one of many methods. It was either delete it all or go through the tedious process of erasing each phrase one at a time. You now have an additional option as a result of this change.
A present for your significant other, or anything you don’t want linked to your Google account for more than a few minutes, should be a lot simpler with this new feature.
It’s unclear why Google missed their planned goal of the end of 2021 to bring this functionality to Android. It’s also not clear when it will be available on desktop computers. It’s possible, though, that desktop users may be the next to benefit.
In the past, Google has made it easy to delete all of your Google search history. You may also choose to automatically remove records older than three months, one year, or three years and a half from the current date. Individual things might also be deleted from a user’s history. While this is all well and good, there is no easy way to delete things from a single search session fast. The 15-minute erase option seems to be ideal for that.
The Google app now has this capability accessible on iOS and Android devices. When or if the functionality will be offered to desktop Google search users is unknown.
