Dyson never fails to impress with its announcements, and this one is no exception. The Dyson Zone is a set of air-purifying headphones that Dyson has just unveiled as its newest product.
The combination of a robust set of headphones and a vizor that crosses over the lips makes these headphones sound as wild as they look. Air purification and music on demand are a rare combo, but this one is a win-win for everyone. It’s my good fortune to have seen the Dyson Zone firsthand, and there’s plenty to say about this newest technological marvel.
Disposability of Dyson Zone
Dyson outlets and dyson.co.uk in the UK will offer the Dyson Zone starting in the fall of 2022. The business did not provide any pricing information or a timeline for when they will be accessible outside of the United States during the briefing.
The Dyson Zone: Personality
When I first saw the Dyson Zone, I couldn’t believe my eyes. When Dyson stated it was something new, I wasn’t sure what to anticipate, but this wasn’t even in the top 10. As I took it all in, there was a deep stillness.
With a purple headband and grey earcups that protrude, it appears like a set of hefty headphones in Dyson colours. The vizor, which spans the nose and mouth and is attached to each cup, is also an unconventional addition. I couldn’t figure out what to make of it since it seemed like something from the future.
Because of Dyson’s actions, I first assumed he was insane. Possibly for the sake of innovation. When I saw a new product on the market, though, I understood how refreshing it was to see a new sort of product, appropriate for a whole different use. After all, weren’t we the ones who thought the first set of headphones were bonkers and the first air purifier was a waste of space? Anyway, I was excited to check out the Dyson Zone.
The Dyson Design Zone
There are magnets holding the Dyson Zone’s visor in place, but it may be removed. However, it does not come into close touch with your face. When I originally received the headphones, I found them simple to adjust from the headband and pleasant for my ears. Microsuede, not leather, is used to make the cups.
The visor soon snapped into place as I pressed it firmly against my face and toward the cups. The Dyson Zone may be controlled through the Dyson app on your smartphone or the settings on the back of each cup. A self-adjusting auto mode is available, as is your choice of three different airflow rates. Additionally, there are three different levels of active noise reduction to choose from: Isolation; Conversation; and Transparency.
Dropping the visor down will instantly halt the music if you need to talk to someone. After putting it back on, the air purification and music are activated once again. If you choose, you may remove the visor and use Dyson Zone as a set of headphones, or you can utilise both functions at the same time. If you prefer a sealed mask, you may also use the included community face covering, which comes with an FFP2 face covering attachment.
Your battery life will vary depending on what you’re doing with your phone and the settings you’re using. On audio mode, the Dyson Zone should last 40+ hours, 4.5+ hours with low airflow mode chosen, and 1.5+ hours with music playing. Even though Dyson hasn’t officially confirmed these numbers, they were given as a ballpark estimate during the product’s launch.
At first, I was disappointed because the maximum airflow setting only lasted for a few seconds. However, this is unlikely to be the case. A USB-C charging connector means you may keep it connected in for long-distance travel, like as on a plane. We don’t yet know how long it takes to charge.
When I tried on this odd style, I saw a few potential issues. It took a few seconds for the headphones to detect and maintain my airflow option because of how slow the controls seemed. The headphones, not the visor, were the weightiest part of the headset. I suppose it will take some time to get accustomed to this new system.
Indeed, the design was stunning – it had a quality and solid feel.
Finally, while I was removing the headphones, I completely forgot about the detachable visor and it dropped to the floor. As I took it up, I held my breath. Nothing happened, and the team seemed unconcerned. In fact, one was able to bend it out of shape to illustrate its strength. However, even while this was a big relief, it raised questions about how easy this may happen when you’re on the go. What if it ended up on a railway track?
Otherwise, the design was remarkable – it exuded quality and weight. Protective micro-fiber sleeve and Prussian Blue case are included with the purchase of the helmet.
All-natural air filtration in the Dyson Zone
Purifying the air is done via the cups, a dual-layer filter (containing a carbon layer), and then straight to the nose and mouth through the Dyson Zone’s visor.. Filters that can be removed from each cup are the tiniest I’ve ever seen. Due to their small size, you’ll need to change these disposable filters at some point. When it’s time to do this, the app will give you a heads-up. With normal usage, a filter’s lifespan may be expected to last around a year.
Although the air purifier’s CADR data isn’t available, I can report that it provided a fair amount of air flow. There are three different speeds to select from, as well as the auto mode that was previously stated. A built-in accelerometer on the Dyson Zone monitors the user’s breathing pattern and adjusts the airflow accordingly.
After a while of utilising this feature, I worry about how dry the air can be on my mouth and neck. In order to breathe air from an air purifier, you must first mix it with the surrounding air, which includes any moisture. If you inhale more concentrated filtered air, it may dry up your throat and make the product more difficult to use.
While it lacks the ability to generate a zone of pure air, the mesh panel on the visor does provide some relief. As a bonus, it’s likely to be much healthier for your health than breathing in some of the heavy contaminants that are common in urban areas.
Much like Dyson air purifiers, the Dyson Zone app lets you see the change it’s made in your home. Graphs depict pollution levels as well as any noise you may have experienced.
Aural explorations of the Dyson Zone
The Dyson Zone over-ear headphones include three levels of active noise cancellation (ANC), each tailored to a specific situation. If you want to completely block out the outside world, you’ll need to use “isolation mode.” As soon as you drop the vizor, conversation mode will be activated; the music will stop, and you’ll be able to hear more clearly. When you need to hear sirens, for example, you may use transparency mode, which boosts the sound of the outside world.
With no music playing in the background, the Dyson Zone’s noise-cancelling technology worked as advertised; I could only hear the buzz of other people’s voices. Also, the music was able to mask the sound of air flowing out of the vizor on its maximum level. It’s reasonable to claim that these headphones have a good sound quality.
Future of Dyson Zone
To sum it up, will individuals be sporting the Dyson Zone while commuting to and from work? Perhaps. Is the public going to think they’re nuts? First and foremost. It would take a lot of guts to be the first person to stroll down the street wearing this futuristic air purifier. Is it really that big of a leap, given that we all listen to music while on the road?
Since the pandemic, air filtration has grown in popularity like never before, therefore Dyson’s release of this device couldn’t have come at a better time. The price hasn’t been released yet, but you can guarantee it won’t be cheap. The market’s reaction to this is still up in the air.
Starting in the fall of 2022, the Dyson Zone will be available for purchase in UK Dyson shops and on dyson.co.uk’s website. The exact date of its release will be announced in the coming months and will depend on where you live.

“It’s reasonable to claim that these headphones have a good sound quality.”
Not necessarily true.
